After the huuuuuge success of last year’s Northern Grip, they’re taking the same festival but blowing it up bigger, better and bolder for a whopper of a weekend.
Northern Grip 2017 is a mountain bike festival and this year, there will be plenty more trails from wild riding, mild riding, singletrack, gravel, rocks, roots, 3km to 30km rides as well as climb free trials for those who simply want to relax and enjoy the ride. Along with all of this you can also expect trade stands, bike clinics, Q&As, bike demos, music and loads more. Lee Quarry and it’s brothering trail Cragg Quarry are of course the main centres, but with it’s relocation in Lee Quarry and Stubbylee Park in Rossendale, there’s all kinds of varied riding for all preferences which will be mapped and marked on the day.
The events spreads over the entire weekend of the 7th-9th July and is a cracker for absolutely everyone involved. Remember it’s not called a festival for nothing, it really is a weekend to bring all your pals along to in the celebration of the sport and will have plenty of entertainment throughout. Friday will kick off their opening party and just like the Saturday, there will be plenty of music, food and drinks to enjoy and socialise with every bike lover going. After their spectacular appearance at last year’s Northern Grip, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners will be providing excellent live tunes to get you dancing along – (trust me, it’s extremely hard not to) with the insane Gareth Brooks on DJ duty later in the evening.
Wake up on Sunday to a ferocious breakfast, before heading off on a group ride along and beyond the incredible Lee Park in Rossendale. The Emergency Support Services that look after Manchester so very well will also be around to cater any clumsies.
Tickets only cost £25 and give you access to absolutely everything in the Northern Grip Hub and on the trails including a route guide and marked trails, demo bike fleet, discounted prices on clothing and bike deals, catering and refreshments, live music & DJ’s, secure bike parking, discounted jump bag, social events, competitions, camping space* and parking, half of Bunny Hop Ale, Souvenir Norther Grip button badge and so much more. – What possible else would you want?!
*Camping prices are £15 for Saturday night and £25 for both Friday and Saturday camping. And don’t worry, they’re not going to leave you stinking as this includes toilets, showers and secure bike parking.
If this sounds like your kinda thing, head here to purchase your tickets. This also means you’ll also be eligible to enter a draw to win some banging prizes so why not ey?! For more information, head to their website.
